Mumbai: In a swift operation, Powai police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly stealing LPG cylinders across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. The accused, identified as Raj Chandrakant Kamble, was caught with 45 stolen gas cylinders and three stolen motorcycles.

Police said the accused had stolen a Burgman scooter from the Powai area and used it to carry out cylinder thefts, including stealing two cylinders using the same vehicle. A case was registered at Powai police station, following which an investigation was launched.
With the help of CCTV footage and technical tracking, the police traced Kamble to Vartak Nagar in Thane, where he was detained.
Officials revealed that the recovered cylinders and bikes were stolen from multiple locations across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The accused has over 10 criminal cases registered against him in the city.
Cops are now probing whether Kamble was part of a larger gang involved in the thefts.
