In an effort to promote a drug-free and healthy lifestyle among young students, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Powai-Chandivali Branch, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme at Powai English High School and Tirandaz Municipal School on June 29, 2026. More than 400 students participated in the awareness sessions.

The programme was led by Dr. Swati Suryavanshi, a psychologist and counsellor with over 20 years of experience, who conducted interactive sessions on the harmful effects of tobacco, alcohol, and narcotic substances. She also emphasized the importance of making responsible life choices and maintaining a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle.
The event was attended by Prant GVCA Convener Kiran Kumawat, Branch President Dipti Jhanwar, Branch Seva Convener Saroj Gupta, and Branch Member Sangeeta Sharma.
Students were educated about the physical, mental, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse through engaging discussions and interactive activities. As part of the programme, participants took a pledge to remain drug-free and to spread awareness among their families and friends.

The initiative received an enthusiastic response from students, teachers, and school authorities, with participants appreciating the practical and interactive format of the sessions.
Bharat Vikas Parishad expressed gratitude to the management, teachers, and staff of Powai English High School and Tirandaz Municipal School for their support in making the programme a success.

The organisation said it will continue conducting similar awareness initiatives as part of its commitment to building a healthier and addiction-free society under its vision of “Swasth Samarth Sanskarit Bharat.”
