Grand Chhath Puja Celebrations at Powai Lake Draw Thousands of Devotees

The festival of Chhath Puja was celebrated with great devotion and grandeur at Powai Lake, drawing thousands of devotees over two days. Multiple community groups collaborated to ensure smooth arrangements and meaningful participation during this auspicious occasion.

Special Service Pavilion and Devotee Support
Under the leadership of Sanjay Singh, Vice President of Uttar Bharatiya Sangh, a special service pavilion was set up opposite Panchkutir on Monday, 27 October (evening Arghya) and Tuesday, 28 October 2025 (morning Arghya).
The pavilion provided:
Essential puja items: milk, sugarcane, gram, bananas
Transport facilities: free buses and rickshaws for devotees
Cultural programs and devotional performances
Changing rooms for women
Refreshments: tea, snacks, water, juice, and fruits
The arrangements ensured the comfort and convenience of devotees and their families during the festival.
Felicitation of Police and Gratitude to Authorities
The event began with floral tributes to the late Babu R. N. Singh, followed by prayers. Sanjay Singh expressed his gratitude to all participants and authorities for their support.
A felicitation ceremony was held to honour the Powai Police Station team for their dedicated assistance during the celebrations. Distinguished guests including Mumbai BJP Vice President Amarjeet Singh, Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Sonawane, Vinod Mishra, Bharat Singh, Popat Tiwari, Rohit Upadhyay, and several other community leaders extended thanks to the Maharashtra Government, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Powai Traffic Police, and Powai Police Station.
Powai Chhath Mata Puja Samiti Celebrations
Simultaneously, the Powai Chhath Mata Puja Samiti, under the guidance of patron and former minister Arif (Naseem) Khan, celebrated the festival with devotional rituals, songs, and cultural performances. This year’s celebration marked the 23rd year of his stewardship and attracted thousands of participants offering prayers to the Sun God.

Committee President Ravi Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to devotees, contributors, and volunteers. Prominent community members in attendance included Brijmohan Pandey, K. D. Singh, Ramgovind Yadav, Vijay Tiwari, R. K. Singh, Ajay Singh, Madhuri Singh, Sunil Singh Rai, Balbir Singh, Shivkumar Tiwari, Bansi Singh, Mataprasad Yadav, Shrinivas Tiwari, Kamla Yadav, and Raju Srivastava.
Efficient Community Support and Accessibility
The final phase of the celebration was coordinated by Mumbai Congress PCC Member Pradeep Verma and his team, who organized the distribution of refreshments and prasad to fasting devotees. Free transportation was also arranged from IIT Main Gate to Powai Lake and Panchkutir, ensuring easy access for all attendees.
Bhai Jagatap, Ex-Congress President and MLA, also visited Powai Lake to offer darshan and greetings, adding to the festival’s significance.

Throughout the two-day Chhath Puja event, Powai Lake resonated with devotion, music, and community unity, showcasing the city’s cultural harmony and deep-rooted spiritual traditions.
