Powai, Mumbai | World Heart Day:

Marking World Heart Day, Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, organised a unique and engaging Djembe drum session for its doctors, highlighting the importance of stress management, mindfulness, and physical activity for maintaining a healthy heart.

More than 50 doctors participated in the rhythmic session, creating powerful beats that symbolised the steady heartbeat of a healthy heart. The event was held in the presence of fellow doctors, medical staff, and patients, creating an atmosphere of positivity and collective well-being.

Rhythm, Wellness, and Stress Relief

The deep, humming beats of the Djembe drums resonated through the hospital premises, offering a refreshing break from the daily pressures of medical practice. The activity underscored how stress—both physical and mental—is a major trigger for heart ailments, especially in today’s fast-paced lifestyle.

The rhythmic performance reflected the hospital’s effort to promote a holistic approach to cardiovascular health, placing exercise, mental wellness, and mindfulness at the centre of heart care.

Raising Awareness Among Caregivers and Community

The initiative also focused on the well-being of caregivers. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sameer Kulkarni, CEO, Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, said:

“Heart ailments are increasing at an alarming rate, with even people in their twenties and thirties falling prey to heart attacks. Stress is a major contributing factor. This Djembe session was organised to remind our own medical fraternity to care for their hearts. Doctors often ignore their personal well-being while caring for others. Through this initiative, we also aimed to create awareness among the audience to stay mindful of their heart rhythm. We firmly believe that wellness begins with self-care, and this initiative reflects our commitment to both our caregivers and the community.”

Hospital’s Commitment to Heart Health

The musical celebration reinforced the hospital’s ongoing commitment to heart health awareness, presenting it in an engaging and relaxing format that resonated with both participants and observers.
