The Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) Powai-Chandivali branch, in collaboration with Dr. L. H. Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, organized a public awareness program on World Mental Health Day, emphasizing the theme “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right.” The initiative aimed to promote mental well-being and encourage open conversations about mental health challenges in daily life.

Guided Meditation and Expert Talk
The event began with a guided meditation session conducted by Dr. Jayna Shah, a BVP branch member, helping participants unwind, de-stress, and reconnect with mental peace. This was followed by an insightful talk by renowned psychiatrist Dr. Harish Shetty on “Understanding Stress, Anxiety & Emotional Well-being.”
Dr. Shetty highlighted the growing importance of mental health awareness in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. He also addressed the rising concern of suicidal tendencies and emphasized the need to break the stigma surrounding mental illnesses through open discussion and community support.
Felicitation Ceremony and Community Participation
The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony honoring Dr. Harish Shetty and Dr. Jayna Shah, supported by Vishwakant from Hiranandani Hospital. Bhupendra Shah and Appukattam from Bharat Vikas Parishad presented Dr. Shetty with a shawl, bouquet, and memento, while Mohini Sharma honored Dr. Jayna Shah with a bouquet.
Over 50 attendees participated in the event, including prominent BVP members such as Branch President Dipti Jhanwar, Seva Convener Saroj Gupta, Mahila Sahbhagita Convener Sonali Pati, GVCA Co-convener Mohini Sharma, Senior Citizen Convener Sharda Dass, Bhupendra Shah, Appukattam, Dr. Swapnil Shah, Harpal Arora, Shweta Mahar, and Uma Shinde.

Through this initiative, the BVP Powai-Chandivali branch and Dr. L. H. Hiranandani Hospital reaffirmed their commitment to promoting health, harmony, and well-being within the community. Programs like these aim to increase awareness of mental health issues, encourage self-care, and foster a supportive environment for residents of Powai and Chandivali.
