PEHS Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Theme 'Viksit Bharat’

In a vibrant celebration of India's 78th Independence Day, Powai English High School (PEHS) honored the nation's freedom fighters and their sacrifices with a program themed "Viksit Bharat." The event was graced by the presence of Wing Commander Uday Manohar Kolhatkar (Retd.) of the Indian Air Force, who unfurled the tricolour flag, accompanied by the school principal, Mrs. Shirley Udaykumar.

 

The celebration commenced with the Diya Lighting Ceremony, setting the tone for the day's events. The school's talented students delivered a soulful rendition of a patriotic song, followed by a heartfelt dance performance by the pre-primary pupils dedicated to India's brave soldiers.

 

The program featured a thought-provoking skit centered around "Viksit Bharat," illustrating the government's vision for transforming India into a developed nation. A poignant speech recounted the valiant efforts and sacrifices of freedom fighters in the struggle for independence, highlighting their battles against the British forces and their ultimate sacrifice for a free India.

 

Academic and extracurricular achievers were recognized for their outstanding performances throughout the year, receiving awards in various categories. Wing Commander Uday Manohar Kolhatkar, the chief guest, inspired students with tales of the Air Force's heroic deeds during wars. He emphasized the role of the Air Force in fostering patriotism and building character, encouraging students to develop leadership skills and embrace new perspectives.

 

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, staff, student committee, and all participants. The celebration reminded attendees of the significance of Independence Day, urging them to honor the freedom fighters, founding fathers, and the Constitution for the opportunity to live in a free India.
